When most people think of Paris, their minds immediately turn to iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower or the Notre Dame Cathedral. But for us at BIMOVIS, our recent trip to the French capital was all about discovering another kind of landmark: the two BioLabs France sites: Hôtel-Dieu and Spartners.
This week, our team (Martin, Aleksandra, Evgenia, and Mathias) had the pleasure of visiting both BioLabs France locations and connecting with their vibrant communities of life sciences innovators.
We first visited BioLabs Hôtel-Dieu at their Hôpital Broussais location, the laboratory site where all the innovative “magic” happens. We got a chance to present our company to the resident startups in a cozy afternoon atmosphere. Our CEO, Martin, delivered a talk on structural biology, covering the fundamentals, the methodologies we apply at BIMOVIS, and the unique perspective we bring to supporting biotech and pharmaceutical research. The session quickly turned into lively discussion about challenges faced by the structural biologists and the end users of the structures alike.

The next day, we participated in a Lunch & Learn session at Spartners – a unique startup incubator established jointly by Servier and BioLabs, right next to Servier’s R&D quarters. The warm welcome from Spartners team was followed by presentations by Martin and Linda (Servier’s structural biology specialist), which both sparked interesting questions from the audience and served as a great starting point for networking at lunch that followed just aftered the talks.
Our visits at both sites showed us once again what a great ecosystem BioLabs are, driven by enthusiasm, curiosity, and innovation, regardless of the exact location. We are deeply grateful to BioLabs France staff for their warm welcome and their efforts in organizing and promoting the events. Opportunities like these remind us of the value of stepping outside our own laboratories to engage directly with other innovators; and we can’t wait for further opportunities in the future!

Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without taking in some of its timeless charm. After a busy day of networking and knowledge sharing, we managed to fit in a bit of sightseeing. One highlight was climbing the many steps up to Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Montmartre — a shared challenge that turned into a moment of laughter and team bonding against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful views of the city.

Our visit to BioLabs France left us not only inspired but also eager to return. We are already looking forward to the next occasion to exchange ideas, explore potential collaborations, and continue the conversation about how structural biology can empower scientific discovery.
