3D MOLECULAR MODELS
& 3D Printing

Physical models that make structures, surfaces and assemblies tangible for scientific discussion, teaching and communication.

Bringing Molecular Structures into the Physical World

Physical models add a different kind of understanding to molecular science. When a protein, complex or binding surface can be held, turned and explored, spatial relationships become easier to discuss.

BIMOVIS develops 3D molecular models and 3D-printed protein models from structural and scientific data. The aim is not to reproduce every detail at once, but to preserve the molecular features that matter for the question, audience and setting.

Each model is prepared with attention to scientific accuracy, usability and visual clarity. We work from protein structures, molecular assemblies, computational models or other structural information and translate them into physical objects that support communication, education and collaboration.

As with our other molecular visualization services, projects are developed through close exchange between BIMOVIS scientists and our Art Director, a trained 3D artist with expertise in molecular and scientific visualization. This ensures that the final model is both scientifically grounded and professionally prepared for its intended use.

3D molecular models can extend an integrated structural biology project from data to physical communication. They can also be commissioned as a standalone visualization service when existing structures or molecular concepts need a tangible format.

How we develop 3D molecular models.

Scientific briefing

We define the biological question, target audience and intended application before selecting the most suitable approach for molecular 3D printing.

Model preparation

Protein structures are optimized from structural biology data to preserve biologically relevant features while ensuring the model can be reliably manufactured and handled.

3D printing & finishing

Scientifically accurate protein structure models are produced using appropriate materials and finishing techniques for research, education, exhibitions or scientific communication.

Deploy

Finished models are delivered for laboratory use, conferences, scientific exhibitions or stakeholder engagement, and can be combined with digital molecular visualization assets for a consistent communication strategy.

Where 3D Molecular Models Make an Impact.

Physical molecular models support situations where molecular architecture, surface shape or spatial relationships need to be experienced directly.

Research & Scientific Collaboration

3D molecular models create a shared reference point for structural discussions. They help researchers examine protein surfaces, binding regions, interfaces and assemblies in a format that encourages discussion around the molecule itself.

Education & Scientific Training

Physical models make molecular structures more accessible in teaching and training. They support hands-on learning and help explain structural concepts that are difficult to communicate through slides or screen-based models alone.

Conferences & Scientific Events

3D-printed molecular models can make scientific content more engaging at conferences, exhibitions and booth settings. They invite people to interact with the science and create an immediate starting point for conversation.

Investor & Partner Communication

For complex molecular technologies or therapeutic concepts, a physical model can help make the scientific idea more concrete. It gives partners, investors or customers a tangible way to engage with the structure behind the story.

Outreach & Public Engagement

3D molecular models can help non-specialist audiences experience molecular science in an intuitive way. They are especially useful when the goal is to make invisible biological structures understandable without oversimplifying the science.
